Loreto Normanhurst Celebrates Class of 2024 HSC Achievements and First in Course Result for Accelerated Year 11 Student, Sarah Zammit

The commendable achievements of the 2024 Loreto Normanhurst student cohort include five Top Achievers and four All-Round Achievers.

NSW Catholic independent girls’ school Loreto Normanhurst proudly celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of its Class of 2024 as the HSC results are officially released today.

Leading the achievements is a standout accolade from Year 11 accelerant Sarah Zammit (Class of 2025), who placed First in Course in Studies of Religion I. Sarah’s remarkable achievement highlights the success of the school’s accelerated course offering, introduced just two years ago.

Loreto Normanhurst Acting Director of Learning, Mr Marco Scali praised Sarah’s accomplishments and tenacity in completing the accelerated course:

“Sarah’s first-place result in Studies of Religion I is a testament to her commitment and hard work, as well as the strength of Loreto Normanhurst’s innovative learning model. To see such success in only the second year of our accelerated course offering is wonderful and highlights our commitment to challenge and nurture our students as analytical and critical thinkers.”
Sarah Zammit receives her First in Course certificate from Deputy Premier, Minister for Education and Early Learning, Prue Car.

The academic achievements of the wider Loreto Normanhurst Year 12 cohort include five students being recognised as Top Achievers in Course (students who attained a place in NSW for a subject).

A further four students were recognised as All-Round Achievers (students who achieved the highest band possible in 10 or more units studied). 110 students were recognised for their exceptional results on the Distinguished Achievers List.

Loreto Normanhurst School Vice-Captain, Tahlia Moses was proudly recognised as one of the school's four All-Round achievers and as a Top Achiever in Business Studies. Yvette Alford placed Second in Course for Italian Beginners.

The school ranked above the state average in 37 of the 43 subjects offered, showcasing a commitment to delivering exceptional education across a diverse range of disciplines. Loreto Normanhurst also ranked 63rd overall in NSW and 6th among Catholic schools, solidifying its position as a leading educational institution.

These results reflect the continued success of Loreto Normanhurst’s award-winning Student Growth Model (LNSGM), which is integral to the school’s approach to education. The LNSGM prioritises collaboration, creative and critical thinking, digital capabilities, adaptability, and independence, equipping students to excel both in their studies and beyond.

Loreto Normanhurst also celebrates the breadth of student talent, with 24 students nominated or selected for prestigious HSC showcases such as OnSTAGE for Drama, ARTEXPRESS for Visual Arts, ENCORE for Music, and SHAPE for Textiles and Design. These achievements highlight the diverse capabilities nurtured within the Loreto Normanhurst community.

Speaking further to the results of the 2024 student cohort, Mr Marco Scali continued:

"Our HSC students have shown remarkable growth, resilience, and compassion throughout their journey. While today we celebrate our high achievers, we equally celebrate every girl’s unique effort, dedication and journey this year. This journey cannot be confined to a final set of numbers. It is this effort and tenacious spirit that we hope will remain with students beyond their time at Loreto Normanhurst.”
“Today’s results reflect the determination of our students, the support of their families, and the expertise of our incredible teaching staff, highlighting the lasting value of learning and personal growth."
